Our Team

Qualified and experienced staff assist children through different aspects of learning using styles appropriate to each child’s level of understanding.     Every step a child takes forward in their learning is celebrated, however small, to build up good self-esteem.

Debbie – Nursery Manager

I have spent over 20 years dedicated to working with children and families within the Early years sector. This experienced has involved working with children within the family home and the nursery environment. I have worked at Stepping Stones for over 11 years and have worked my way from a Nursery assistant to the Nursery Manager. I am passionate about Early Years education and believe that all children are unique and deserve to have an education that is tailored to their individual needs and supports them to reach their full potential.

My favourite thing about working with children is watching the reaction of pure joy when a child first accomplishes a new skill or overcomes a challenge.

My biggest passion is spending time with my children, watching them grow and develop from babies to children and most recently the transformation to mini adults (teenagers) with very their own unique personalities and identities has been without a doubt the most enjoyable and my most cherished learning experience. I also enjoy being outdoors, travelling and listening to music.

Karen – Deputy Manager DSL BML

I have been with Stepping Stones Nursery for over 12 years.  I have 3 daughters  who attended our nursery and an opportunity arose to help out during sessions with my youngest daughter and I have been here ever since.  I gained my L3 qualification and in recent years have become Deputy Manager.   My job is both challenging and rewarding but most of all it is a privilege to play alongside children every day watching their confidence grow, their developing personalities emerge and supporting and encouraging their individual learning styles.

My family are my biggest hobby not forgetting the 3 cats and 1 dog!  Long dog walks and cooking take most of my time but I do like going to the theatre too!

Lynda – Senior Practitioner, SENCO and ELSA

I have been working in early years for over 20 years and have worked at Stepping Stones for the last 9 years working up to the position of Senior Practitioner. I have twin twelve year old girls who also attended our nursery.  In my spare time I enjoy running , socialising and camping with family and friends.

Working in early years for me is exciting because every year is different and so rewarding to watch children grow and develop their skills with us before taking further steps onto school.

Louise – Early Years Practitioner

I trained as a teacher over 30 years ago and have worked with children under 7 since then apart from the 5 years I spent at home looking after my own young children.

My husband’s job took our family overseas first to Denmark for 3 years and then to The Netherlands for nearly 12. While overseas I worked in International Schools.

Since starting to work at Stepping Stones I have been going on the woodland adventures with the children which I have thoroughly enjoyed. I love to watch the children have regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland environment.

When I’m not at school I enjoy reading and keeping fit by running.

Emily - Early Years Practitioner

I have been involved in this lovely setting for some time now both volunteering and being a member on the committee. I have 3 children who all attended the Nursery and thoroughly enjoyed their time here. When the opportunity arose to work at Stepping Stones I jumped at the chance to apply and was lucky enough to obtain employment as a Nursery Assistant. I am looking forward to progressing my career here now i have completed my Level 3 childcare qualification.

I love spending time with my family, visiting new places, going to the beach for fish and chips, and listening to music.

Michelle - Early Years Practitioner

I have been in childcare since qualifying with a diploma in 2002. During my time within the childcare sector I have worked with a vast range of age groups from babies to 8 year olds within nurseries and family homes. I joined Stepping Stones in January 2018 after having a career break which allowed me to be at home as my two sons grew.  I now work alongside a great team of childcare professionals. One of my favourite things about working in childcare is helping children learn and achieve new things and so I’m excited to help the children at Stepping Stones grow.   My spare time is mainly taken up by my 2 energetic boys. We enjoy swimming, visiting national trust sites and when the weather is nice we go camping.
